Yesterday morning, as I trudged into the office and drank my not strong enough coffee, I remembered a text I had gotten from my dearest friend, Amy, about Whrrl. Whrrl is a new app on my handy dandy Iphone that she had recommended for me as a fellow social media feign. Whrrl is a sub application of Facebook, somewhat similar to twitter, however, you are able to post a picture of the event in which you are participating while it locates your location via GPS. Other users are also able to comment on your event according to their liking. I decided to take five, knowing the long day ahead of me, to give Whrrl a whirl. J I decided to post my tired state with a picture of my Dwight Schrute stress ball that lovingly sits on top my tape dispenser. I found the app delightful, but my Iphone GPS has been in a funk lately and not wanting to locate me, therefore, my apps are unable to locate me. I clicked away at the Apple website to schedule an appointment for service with an Apple genius, after I was “un-techie” enough to figure out how to manually put in my location. As a lover of Twitter, I tweeted my little experience for all to know, of my approval of the new found Whrrl. Later in the afternoon I got a tweet from a John C Kim (twitter s/n: jkimlosangeles) asking about my issues regarding Whrrl. Perplexed as to why he would be so curious, I explained my situation. He then asked me to email him to further explain my issue so he may assist me. After a few exchanged emails, curiosity overwhelmed me, and I jokingly asked if he was an Iphone guru of some sort. Turns out he is the VP of the marketing company for Whrrl, and was there to assist me anyway possible. I was so impressed for several reasons:

a. The VP of a company would take the time out his day to help an uknown user of his product.

b. Twitter is an amazing networking tool. You never know who’s looking at your updates.

c. The screen shot emails of the app, supplied by John Kim were so helpful, and easy to understand. But not only did he offer help with Whrrl, he also offered help with my phone and anything else I might need!

Customer service is a rare commodity. I for one will be a Whrrl user for quite some time to come.
