So, after much contemplation Robert and I drove to Salado this weekend to hand over George to his new owner. George was a great companion when I first moved into my apartment. Living on my own for the first time, I missed companionship and someone to come home too. I impulsively found myself at the humane society closest to my new abode and picked the friendliest cat I encountered. Never owning a pet before, George was an experience. Almost two years and another cat later, I never find myself at home due to school and family. Guiltiness plagued me for not being able to supply the attention the little rascal desired. Weighing my pros and cons I placed an ad on the Intranet at my work. The previous owner of the other cat decided to take him back once they closed on their house, and without a companion, George would be lonelier than ever. One month later an unexpected call came in from a loving, older lady who was willing to drive two and half-hours for my beautiful George. She was everything I wanted in his next owner. We met her in Salado, TX where she bought us lunch and told us of her life in Fort Worth. This was the type of older lady I would find myself befriending at work, a coworker I would trust. Young at heart, and needing the companionship that George once offered me, we finished up our lunch and made the trade. George made the trip to his new home well, and has been mapping out his new surroundings.

Ode To George
My dearest George
How you love to gorge
On fish kitty treats
And our sweaty feet
Better not forget
To put down the toilet
For you love to flush
It gives you such a rush
Laying on my laptop
Always a fav spot
But only when in use
Eager to be my muse
Oh George how I will miss
Your little furry kiss
Enjoy your new home
Yes, I packed your comb
